I recently completed a series of portraits for a poster campaign, Safety Awareness For Elders (S.A.F.E.) , produced by the Vancouver Police Department and launched June 15, 2016 to coincide with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD). The purpose of the WEAAD is to encourage communities to recognize the problem of elderly abuse, and for countries to create policies that foster respect for elders and provide them the tools to continue to be productive citizens.
Locally, our approach to the VPD campaign was to raise awareness using messaging that empowers our senior citizens and their loved ones and to let them know that there is help available. Special thanks to the VPD Team with whom I had the privilege to work on this project and all the senior citizens who took part and volunteered their time towards the cause.
